We are looking for a motivated Data Engineer (m/f/x) joining our team of enthusiastic system engineers. Our data infrastructure is currently handling more than 10.000 requests per second and processing more than 1 TB of data each hour. Your main focus will be harvesting cloud- and container technologies including queueing, streams, distributed systems and data infrastructure.
As an expert for clean code, design patterns and software engineering best practices, you will help your colleagues to further build our data infrastructure. Working with cutting edge open-source projects, you will have the opportunity to perfect your strong systems engineering skills like concurrency, scalability and performance. You will work in a friendly team atmosphere, use agile methods and have the chance to develop yourself professionally and personally.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build and collaborate on our multi-regional data infrastructure using technologies like AWS, Spark, Mesos, Docker, Airflow, Kafka, MySQL, Cassandra, HDFS and more
- Build the technical platform for our Engineering teams to develop, deploy and connect data products
- Provide the foundation to enable the generation of insights, reporting and adhoc-querying
- Help move our services into a container-based cloud-native architecture
- Understand and solve performance issues and faults from a low-level perspective
YOUR PROFILE
- Evidence of excellent programming skills with successful completion of a university degree or similar education as well as relevant programming experience
- Solid software engineering skills in Python, Scala and/or Java
- Intricate knowledge of OOP, data structures, design patterns, clean coding practices, development standards and testing
- Expertise in Linux systems
- Ability to leverage Debugging and Profiling
- Solid understanding of concurrent execution and parallel processing
- A good understanding of cloud native applications and related open source technologies
- Ability to deliver Cloud infrastructure architectures involving compute, storage, network, data and services
- Knowledge of SQL, in particular the MySQL dialect and NoSQL data stores like Redis
- Familiarity with modern development concepts such as continuous integration (CI/CD)
- Experience with distributed computing (e.g. Spark) and cluster management systems such as Mesos/Kubernetes is a plus
- Strong passion for sharing knowledge and professional self growth
