Join our Identity team and help improve trivago user’s experience through ensuring coverage, quality and accuracy of accommodation content & advertiser matching. We are looking for someone who is interested in leveraging machine learning techniques to help ensure continual improvements in our complex matching process. In addition, you will drive the definition of consolidation algorithms amalgamating and ranking data from multiple big-data sources.
You will work in a cross-functional team to create and optimize a matching and content consolidation service. A key aspect of the role will be your expectation to pro-actively share your knowledge and approach with other analyst team members helping their development. You will be in a position to understand how your contribution helps millions of users to find their ideal hotel in a global platform.
What you’ll do:
- Preparing datasets for prototyping machine learning algorithms.
- Proposing measures to evaluate the accuracy of hotel profile content.
- Proof of concept of advertiser matching techniques with incremental updating.
- Contributing in the implementation of proposed methods to service.
- Optimization, A/B testing and fine tuning of service for matching, consolidation, etc
- Working in a cross-functional team with Big Data Analysts, Data Engineers and Software Engineers.
What you’ll definitely need:
- Min 2 years of professional hands-on experience in data science or a related field, with a track record of delivering products/data that make business impact.
- Hands-on experience in at least one scripting language for data science (preferably Python or R).
- Solid knowledge of SQL and query optimization.
- Proficiency in supervised learning models, optimization techniques and statistics.
- Experience with distributed computing tools (e.g. Spark, H2O).
- Autonomous and proactive way of working, flexibility and adaptiveness to changing environments.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English (our company language).
What we’d love you to have:
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Maths, Statistics or similar field.
- Experience in product development for real-time service.
- Experience in working in a cross-functional team with data scientists and software engineers.
- Experience in working with big data technologies and pipelines (AWS, Hive).
- Solid knowledge of a general purpose object-oriented programming language (e.g. Java, Scala, C++, PHP, Python).
