The department Softwareentwicklung und Plattformen (SEP) is the development unit within the Bavarian public broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk. We build award-winning apps for Android and iOS, intelligent applications for screens of all sizes, as well as websites and blogs. We work closely with various editorial teams in radio, television and web and develop innovative platforms like BR24, the BR Mediathek, the BR Radio App or, together with ARD.de, the ARD Audiothek.
Your tasks
You will work in interdisciplinary product teams on the design and development of recommendation algorithms.
- Conception, development and evaluation of recommendation algorithms for various products with BR and ARD Scope.
- Preparation of usage and content data into suitable models.
- Design, implementation and analysis of A/B tests.
- Quantitative and qualitative evaluation of recommendation algorithms.
- Implementation and preparation of data analyses to support various teams in the data-driven development of our products.
- Research, analysis and evaluation of research publications around recommender systems
Your profile
- Enthusiasm for working with data in a media context and experience in the analysis of complex data issues.
- Degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, data science or equivalent.
- Confident handling of Python, familiarity with tools and libraries like pandas, numpy, tensorflow.
- Good conceptual, analytical and empirical skills.
- Ability to explain complex methods and procedures intelligibly, even to non-experts.
- Experience with machine learning methods and data engineering with Spark, Apache Druid etc.
- Good skills in database technologies (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis) and a secure handling of common software engineering tools such as git etc.
- Identification with the basic idea of public broadcasting.
- Good knowledge of German and English.
