Pricing & Forecasting is at the core of our commercial operation. Our tools help to determine how much of each product to buy, to recommend the best prices for these products, and to ensure that we have the right level of logistics capacity to fulfill our customers demand. The Pricing and Forecasting engineering team uses cutting edge technology to forecast demand and pricing with focus on business and customer experience. Partnerships happen with all key engineering and product teams, business and customer experience teams.

YOUR ROLE
As the Engineering Lead for Price Recommendations you are responsible for the delivery and improvement of one of the most important components in Zalando’s pricing process.
- You lead and mentor a cross functional team of data scientists and developers and deliver in an agile way. You are responsible for the growth of your team members, optimizing the development processes, and foster a culture of engineering excellence
- You design and implement mathematical optimization techniques for price optimizations, such as stochastic optimization, linear programming, mixed integer programming or dynamic programming.
- You use research and technology to solve high influence business challenges.
- You collaborate closely with product and business to provide solutions with high business impact.
- You craft the technical vision, assess risks, manage expectations, and lead your team to outstanding results.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- You are a scholar. You are proud of your strong academic background in Operations Research, Applied mathematics or other quantitative science field.
- You are an expert. You hold substantial industry experience in applying optimization models to solve business challenges in real world.
- You are a coder. You have demonstrable skills in programming (Java, Python) and sound design concepts.
- You are a Leader. You mentor employees and empower them to grow.
- You are a people person. You are an excellent communicator, able to successfully interact with various stakeholders, such as product, data scientists, developers and business.
