We are now searching for a Senior AI Architect to join our Search & Personalisation department. In this role, you will create an overarching AI strategy and drive our success in this exciting and quickly growing field.

You Are Setting Standards
Vision. You’ll define the strategy and roadmap for analytics, deep learning frameworks, and pioneer the vision to the organization.
Implementation. As part of a growing, multi-disciplinary team of Data Scientists and Research Engineers you’ll build AI architecture and develop solutions to reinforce the value of data and analytics.
Hands-on. You’ll provide hands-on support to complex business and technology piloting projects in order to apply theory to solve real-world problems.
Mission. You’ll cultivate and disperse knowledge and best practices on AI architecture and design development within the engineering team.
Ownership.You’ll be the owner of Zalando’s Global AI architecture documentation and ensure its consistency and alignment with various engineering stakeholders.
Team play. You’ll embrace architecture development as a collective effort and share your knowledge through coaching, peer reviews, articles, and tech talks.

You Are
Passionate about Deep Learning. You are a proud PhD degree holder in Computer Science, Computer Architecture, Deep Learning or a related field.
Experienced (on a senior level). You can impress us with 12+ years of professional hands-on experience as a (senior) engineer and architect. Your experience is derived from distributed large scale applications requiring research integrations, such as search and personalization or price forecasting systems.
Polyglot. You bring an expert level programming skills with Java and JVM based languages, like Scala, and ideally Python.
Skilled. You have experience in one or more of the following areas: artificial intelligence, large-scale data mining and machine learning, (including a solid understanding of DL fundamentals).
Enthusiastic about solving hard business problems. You love data and analytics in balance with open source technologies.
Armed with soft skills. Your effective communication skills paired with your strong analytical competence allows you to simplify complex information and problems.
