What’s next in music happens on SoundCloud first. As the world’s largest open audio platform, SoundCloud is powered by a connected community of creators, listeners and curators who share, discover and influence what’s new, now and next in music and audio.
We’re looking for an experienced data engineer to join our Search & Recommendations team. This cross-functional team is responsible for developing, testing and maintaining efficient pipelines and services that transform raw data into features aimed at helping users discover new music on SoundCloud. You will work alongside data scientists to take explorative models into scalable, production ready data sets and alongside engineers to build out APIs to power our client applications.
As a senior data engineer, you will work with on-premises data infrastructure (HDFS, Spark, Airflow, Kafka, Kubernetes) and GCP data services (BigQuery, Big Table, GCS, DataFlow). You will also improve our services and tooling (Scala, Python, go), monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana), and alerting for APIs, datasets and data jobs, to ensure we continue to deliver content to fit our users’ most recent listening behavior.
You have solid backend engineering skills writing well documented and tested code, with a good understanding of building distributed, scalable and accessible systems, and are motivated to contribute to impact the world of music.
You are proactive and passionate about learning, experienced in collaborating closely with other teams and familiar with an Agile workflow. You enjoy crafting simple solutions to complex engineering problems and are able to communicate them to product managers. You’re an independent thinker, but thrive in a tight-knit team. You’re committed to the products you work on.
