If you really want to make a difference – make it with us
Mobility goes digital. The Mobility Division is the world’s leading provider of mobility solutions that enable the efficient, safe and environmentally friendly transport of people and goods – and help improve the quality of everyday life for millions of people on all continents. Driven by innovation, we develop intelligent solutions for the increasing digitalization of the transport sector. Our range of offerings includes rail vehicles, rail automation, road traffic management systems and rail electrification. Our data-driven services offer customers value-added that is unique, and not only in our industry. We call this Ingenuity for Life.
At our new Data Analytics & Application Center (DAAC) we develop data-driven functions for even smarter management of road traffic, specific fleets such as eBikes, and intermodal mobility as well. To do this, we work closely with our customers (e.g. cities), partners (e.g. automotive manufacturers) and Siemens departments (e.g. traditional R&D), with agile methods and rapid prototyping in line with the lean start-up concept.
In this environment, you can use your expertise in Software Development and Big Data to help shape ecologically sustainable smart traffic for the future along with underlying functions for autonomous driving.
Your new role – challenging and future-oriented
- You will work with data scientists to develop functions and applications for the optimized management of road traffic, specific fleets and intermodal transportation routes, based on data from traffic management systems, traffic light systems, vehicles and other sources
- You will decide on the technological approach and develop system architectures on the basis of functional requirements for complex problems and will be responsible for their implementation – as an add-on within existing systems or as a stand-alone application
- You will develop web applications or modules and add-ons in the AWS environment, as well as web front ends and/or back ends with high-performance data links
- You will also be responsible for the development of apps for Android and iOS, and in conjunction with the existing R&D you will be responsible jointly for integrating the functions into existing products
- You will apply agile development methods in your work
- Your role will include evaluating new technologies and developing proofs of concept
- You will also prepare software documentation in English
Your qualifications – solid and appropriate
- You have a university degree in information technology or have gained a comparable qualification
- You have longtime professional experience in software development for web applications and in object-oriented programming and agile software development methods (e.g. Design Thinking and Scrum)
- You excel with your experience of the programming languages Python, Java, JavaScript, HTML5, C# and have knowledge in C++
- You have also had the opportunity to gain experience with frameworks for web applications (AngularJS, jQuery, Node.js, etc.)
- You have sound technical knowledge of using transport protocols (e.g. SOAP, https, TCP/IP, REST, MQTT, OCIT)
- You have experience in database programming (SQL, NoSQL & Hadoop) as well as knowledge of Amazon Web Services, MS Azure or similar cloud systems
- You have experience of using standard software development environments (Eclipse, IntelliJ, Jira, Team Foundation Server, etc.)
- You speak business-fluent English; good knowledge of German would be desirable
