What’s the role?
The Services Strategy & Innovation team helps bring innovative products to life. We’re a team of around 20 engineers, designers, product managers and strategists, fully equipped to drive an idea from inception through prototyping and business validation to release. You would work in our cross-functional R&D team which combines expertise in core topics (data engineering, data science, map visualization, application development) with a passion for diving into new technologies like AR, 3D, or drone navigation. Following our company values “Learn Fast” and “Win Together”, we heavily collaborate with external partners and other teams within HERE to ensure we use these technologies to build meaningful products for our customers and users.
As a Sr. Data Engineer in Service Strategy and Innovation, you help your team validate new product ideas by creating flexible and powerful backend services:
- Design backend applications for big volumes of data, high request throughput, or both
- Design databases structure and queries and optimize their performance
- Work in small, self-sufficient project teams with product managers, designers, and other developers
- Prototype applications for quick validation with customers and partners
- Explore datasets and -streams for patterns and create data processing pipelines to extract them automatically
Who are you?
You are a critical thinker and a team player with significant experience in big data processing in distributed environments. You’re equally comfortable with making things happen quickly as you are with creating bullet-proof production code when it counts. You will be successful in this role if you bring these skills
- Expertise in either Python or Java and their related REST API stacks
- Experience with at least one big data processing framework (Hadoop, Spark, Flink, …)
- Bonus: Experience with Scala, node.js, GIS tools, machine learning, or applied statistics and e.g. pandas or R
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Motivation to work in an innovation environment where ideas and plans may quickly evolve as new information becomes available
